Islamabad: 31 August 2026: The 92nd CPEC Progress Review Meeting on the CPEC Action Plan 2025–2029 was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal.
The Minister stated that CPEC Phase II aims to transform the Pakistan–China strategic partnership into sustainable economic growth.
- Approximately US$25 billion in Chinese investment was made during Phase I
- Nearly 8,000 MW was added to Pakistan’s power-generation capacity
- The Thar coal project was developed, and a fibre-optic network was established
Building on the achievements of Phase I, CPEC Phase II will promote cooperation in industry, agriculture, minerals, technology, human-resource development and business-to-business partnerships.
Under CPEC Phase II, around 1,000 Pakistani agricultural experts are being sent to China for training in advanced agricultural technologies, laying the foundation for “Green Revolution 2.0.” The first batch has already completed its training and returned from China.
The Minister urged the private sector to play a leading role in unlocking the economic potential of CPEC Phase II. He stressed that increasing Pakistan’s exports to US$100 billion by 2035 is a national economic imperative.
