Science and Technology Cooperation under CPEC

To advance Science and Technology cooperation with high standards under the CPEC framework, China and Pakistan attach great importance to the significant role of science, technology, and innovation cooperation in boosting economic and social progress. Both sides believe that it is important to intensify cooperation in the fields of S&T and emerging technologies and to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. China and Pakistan are working in close co-ordination to further advance the bilateral cooperation in science and technology sector under the BRI/CPEC. In line with President Xi Jinping's Belt and Road Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Action Plan, the two sides are working to deepen bilateral S&T cooperation through S&T people-to-people exchange, Joint Research Labs/Centres, S&T Park cooperation, and technology transfer Centres.
China-Pakistan Joint Research Centre on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) has been established to carry out systematic research on earth sciences providing science-based advice for decision-making, technological support to civil engineering projects of CPEC, and scientific solutions for regional sustainable development and to mitigate the negative impacts of natural disasters. climate change, ecological and environmental degradation.
Numerous initiatives are currently in progress including establishment of Joint Research Centres, Technology Transfer Center, Training and Capacity Building of Policy-makers and decision-makers on the Science and Technology (S&T) Ecosystem and S&T Parks, Cooperation on STEM education etc.
